Because all raven pictures need an Edgar Allen Poe reference.
My final project in Nature Drawing consisted of picking an animal from the local small zoo, photographing it, and then rendering it in any traditional medium you liked. Originally I was going to do a big cat or maybe the eagle, but when I saw the raven there I fell in love with it immediately.
I am not really one for traditional medium (I prefer digital) so this project was a bit of a hassle for me. This is done in prismacolor pencil and took a very loooong time for me, but I like the end result. Intentionally did not use black just to see what other colors I could get out of him.
I don't see what people have against ravens and crows. I think they're gorgeous.
oo That's really very interesting, that you didn't use black... although I could tell before I read the description, it's very subtle. I see purple and orange and sea green and teal and blue...
Much luff!!

It's hard to not use black because you get really tempted to when you need dark fast. But black almost always will override anything you put it over, and the eye will immediately be drawn to it. It's overpowering. So I wanted to see what I could do without relying on black at all.
The result is very fun

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
