OH DAMN I'M STILL ALIVE YES. Sorry I haven't updated this comic in like forever. Work's been a bitch but that's not much of an excuse. Well at least it was only two months and not six years amirite?

Only Battler can trek down an entire cliffside and still keep his ivory suit pristine without a smudge of dirt. If Ryukishi can have him examine bloody murders and still stay clean, then dammit, he can stay clean doing other things.

LESSON TIME!!!!!

Virgil does offer to go first, mostly to protect Dante when he goes down the side of the abyss. Again: Virgil (and Virgilia) are dead here, so the fall won't do much more than disorient them, but if Dante (or Battler) were to fall now, they'd be dead as soon as they hit the ground. Which is a long way down, so it might take a while.

Battler's panic comes directly from Dante's in the original epic poem. Dante sees that Virgil has gone pale (somehow, despite being a spirit), and inquires, "How shall I come if you're afraid, / you, who give me comfort when I falter?" But Battler is not nearly so poetic, so he just panics. Lulz.

Both Dante and Battler do have justified reasons for worrying, though, because something is troubling their guide(s). What could it be? Unfortunately, we're left to find out when they get to the bottom.
