READS RIGHT TO LEFT like the original Japanese Manga!

got me into Umineko last year, which is a crazy, Agatha Christie-meets-uber-magic-fantasy murder mystery thing that is far too difficult to explain here.

HOWEVER.

This series also has EXTREMELY OBVIOUS parallels to Dante Alighieri's "Divine Comedy." For those unaware, this is an epic poem from the early 1300's when the author, Dante, finds himself in the afterlife while still alive and has to travel through Hell, up Purgatory Mountain, and into Heaven in order to appeal for his right to be returned to life. I've read Inferno a few years ago, and more recently finished up Purgatorio and Paradiso, and....this just popped into my head.

What if Battler took Dante's journey, and everybody else filled in their respective roles?

So here we are in the first canto, when "Dante" finds himself in an unusual forest with no recollection of how he got there.
